Tim Mackley is a qualified garden designer and horticulturalist with over fifteen years experience in designing, planting and developing gardens. He is a Pre-Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers (SGD), the UK’s only professional body dedicated to promoting the highest quality standards in garden design.
After completing an Honours degree, Tim spent 14 years working in the media industry before retraining to pursue professionally his lifelong passion for plants and gardens.
Tim trained at Capel Manor College, a recognised centre of Vocational Excellence in Horticulture, Landscaping and Garden Design, where he attained a range of qualifications including the RHS General Certificate in Horticulture, C&G Garden & Landscape Design, C&G Hard Landscape & Garden Construction and OCN Planting Design.
Tim was a finalist in the national SGD Awards 2012, in the Future Designers category. He has been featured in the magazines House & Garden and Garden Design Journal, as well as in local newspapers Southwark News, Dulwich & South London Press and The Bridge.
In addition to his design and project work, for over ten years Tim has been the single-handed gardener for a large private garden in Dulwich Village, which opens to the public for charity under The National Gardens Scheme (NGS). This half an acre of ‘country garden in London’ includes a long herbaceous border, spacious lawn, ornamental pond, rose garden, numerous trees and shrubs, plus a kitchen garden and greenhouse.
